The IBM Cognos TM1 Operations Console is new in IBM Cognos TM1 version 10.1. This web application tier component is developed for administrators in order to be able to monitor the activity of the TM1 servers on the network. The tool is installed on a Java-based web application server and needs specific configuration before it can be used.The web-based monitoring tool gives a better understanding of how Cognos TM1 server and user loads are working.

IBM Cognos Insight bestaat in 2 verschillende versies. Enerzijds is er de standalone applicatie en anderzijds kan de tool opgestart worden vanuit de IBM Cognos TM1 applications portal. Beide versies bevatten dezelfde functionaliteit. Het concept bestaat erin om tabular data vanuit een excel sheet te importeren in IBM Cognos insight met drag en drop functionaliteit. De gegevens verschijnen onmiddellijk in een werkblad waarin de data geanalyseerd en gevisualiseerd kan worden.

IBM Cognos Insight exist in 2 versions. The desktop standalone version or the version which can be accessed through the IBM Cognos TM1 applications portal. Both versions offer exactly the same functionality. They allow to import tabular data from eg. Excel sheets directly into IBM Cognos Insight by drag and drop. The data immediately shows up in a workspace area where users can analyze and visualize their data.

De transformatie is het programma dat InfoProviders met elkaar kan mappen. Het is de kern van de ETL in BW, aangezien hier alle data transformaties worden gedefinieerd. De mapping gebeurt tussen 2 (of meerdere) InfoObjecten, waarbij transformatie regels kunnen worden gedefinieerd en indien nodig met ABAP code. Om data te laden met een transformatie, moet men een Data Transfer Process (DTP) lanceren die gelinkt is aan de transformatie.

SAP delivers a set of standard SAP BW objects and even full data flows including queries, workbooks, roles … which can be installed from the Business Content. Clients can use these objects in their custom data flows, or use them as a starting point for their project.

The sequence of ETL load steps are defined in a Process Chain. A chain can contain steps of different types (InfoPackages, DTP’s, ABAP programs, event triggers, BPC processes …). Via the Process Chain monitor the BW administrator can monitor and schedule BW load processes.
